Robert Vere – Company of St Boniface
Robert Vere Admitted to the Company of St Boniface in June 2026
Robert Vere of St Mary’s Church, Morchard Bishop, was among eleven inspirational individuals honoured at the St Boniface Awards held at Exeter Cathedral on 6 June 2026. During the special service, he was formally admitted to the Company of St Boniface and presented with a medal by the Bishop of Exeter, the Rt Revd Dr Mike Harrison.
The Company of St Boniface was established to recognise people who have made a significant contribution to the life of their church, local community, or Church of England school. Named after Devon’s patron saint, the awards celebrate those whose service, leadership, and dedication have had a lasting impact on others.
Robert Vere was recognised for more than four decades of faithful ministry as a lay reader in Morchard Bishop. Drawing on his early missionary experience, he has devoted many years to supporting the church and serving the wider community with commitment, wisdom, and Christian witness.
The awards ceremony brought together recipients from across Devon whose contributions span youth work, community outreach, church leadership, education, heritage conservation, and pastoral care. In welcoming the recipients into the Company of St Boniface, Bishop Mike Harrison praised them as examples of the remarkable service taking place across the Diocese of Exeter and as an inspiration to others.
Robert’s admission to the Company of St Boniface is a fitting recognition of his longstanding dedication to the Church and to the people of Morchard Bishop, reflecting a lifetime of faithful service and commitment to Christian ministry.
